hi guys

could not finish installing nba 2k18

pc specs

-i7 2600k
-8gb ram
-81gb free on ssd
-1060 gpu

on win 7

-ran as admin
-antivirus turned off

could only reach up to 20ish percent

on safe mode

-ran as admin

could only finish 34 percent


i already downloaded it twice and used latest winrar

any inputs??

not sure, try turning up your vram maybe?
if that doesnt work let me know, i have another idea hat needs abit work at my end if that wasnt the issue.

gtx 1060 has 6gb vram.. i think thats more than enought to run this game..thanks

I think KiNG's referring to virtual ram there, which is easier to "turn up", not video ram

turned vram to 16gb

didnt work on normal and on safe mode

same results

i have an idea to try, just need to build a new installer and move things round abit then upload a test one.
so once i finish what im working on atm we give that a try.
some of the settings in this installer were only tested with 16gb of ram, as 16gig is more or less standard nowadays and non of my pcs have any less so the game was released that way.
so that could be the cause.

it was tested on furnace 32gb
and a lappy 16gb

i am suprised turning the vram up did not work, it should have installed just very slowly.

you did not mention how much space you have on the target drive, some of the tools in the installer will use more hdd space if there is not enough ram to max it out, so it maybe going well over the usual temp space requirements with it being such a huge game. gonna try build another installer shortly but not sure it will make a difference the issue only seems to be affecting a select few.

Assuming that's the target drive there KiNG. That's possibly the issue - that just might be not quite enough for the process to complete maybe considering this particular game is so huge. I always try to have at least 100GB free on my game SSD most of the time (currently 142GB free). I certainly have no need or desire to be playing 10 big titles at once these days lol!

sorry to say a new installer is not possible, i have spent the last few days updating the installer code with new tools and updating old ones, so after testing i found it nolonger installs the games done previously.
so only way really would be to redo the game for the new installer. due to the size of the game thats not going to happen until the next game update, so basically im stumped for ideas.

Are you getting any error messages while installing?

For how much time did it got stuck on 20%.

Is your system is overclocked?

app crash error

system is oced to 4.5ghz

Overclocking is a problem, clock it to normal speed, restart and try installing.

reverted to optimized defaults still the same results

i guess you cant win them all
