Tales of Valor - Old Rip

Post by mmn0891 » 08 Aug 2014, 10:31

Hi, I know this is a bit old but i still play the game, i don't really fancy COH 2. The version of tales of Valor you ripped is V2.501 but it cannot be updated cause of the registry Keys, the one in the game folder doesn't work. the patch keeps saying it cant find COH on the PC. Please post the registry key entries if you have them cause i am only left with the option to download the reloaded version (7GB) while there are seeders, cause it can be patched.
I have been searching for the REG keys for a long time but was unable to find them or a fix.

THANKS

Try this:

Please create a restore point in your system properties before you start doing anything with your registry.
The registry values below are harmless but it's quite easy to mess things up if you (or anyone for that
matter) fail to understand and/or use the information given... Better safe than sorry, am I right people?

• Open Notepad and copy/paste all the
blue text from one of the quotes.
• Choose either 32 or 64-Bit depending on your operating system.
• Edit the 3 lines of text to match your own installation directory.
• The lines are: UninstallString, InstallLocation and DisplayIcon.
• Note that you can also edit the "DisplayVersion"="2.501.0" if needed.
• Don't touch anything else - Leave all quotations marks and double backslashes as they are.
• Though you may need to remove or add double backslashes depending on your installation path.

Basically you are about to edit this bit on 3 separate lines:

D:\\Games\\Company of Heroes

...obviously this path could look very different - For example:

F:\\Company of Heroes
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\THQ\\CoH Tales of Valor
G:\\KK-Games\\Company.Of.Heroes.Tales.Of.Valor.FullRip-KaOs

...and so on, etc. etc.

• When you're done editing in Notepad do a "Save As" and give it a name, and replace
the extension ".txt" to ".reg" in the file name - Now save it somewhere easily found.
• Now you can double click your newly created .reg file and it should add the edited
installation directory to the registry.
• Finally, give that patch another go - I'm not sure what updates are available but you
may need to installed 3 or 4 different patches before you reach the latest version.
• Also, I'm guessin you will need a new crack if the patching is successful.
• If you have trouble understanding all this reg-nonsense then post your installation
directory, game version and Windows version, and I'll make a registry file for you.

64-Bit Windows

"InstallLocation"="D:\\Games\\Company of Heroes\\"
"Publisher"="THQ Inc."
"DisplayVersion"="2.501.0"
"DisplayIcon"="\"D:\\Games\\Company of Heroes\\Uninstall_English.exe\""

Disclaimer:

I do not have this particular game installed so I have no way of checking or helping you beyond this point.
The info posted here is easily found via google.co.uk - Just do a search for "Company of Heroes registry",
without the quotations and you will find the exact same information.

If you still can't get it to work after all this reading end registering then I would make a request for
an updated version of the game in the "General Chat" forum.

Good luck.

Hi, first of all thanks, really. I tried this before with a few different reg entries that I found online but kept getting an error, just tried the one you gave and got this error message.
" This patch updates company of heroes version 2.501.0, but you appear to have an unrecognized version installed. If logging into relic online to download the latest patches does not solve the problem, you may need to reinstall company of heroes. (Error Code 10267)".

Tried googling the error but no success. By the way just to mention the tales of valor by KAOS does not have the 'Uninstall_English.exe' which could be the reason for the error.

I'm going to say this right of the bat before you start pulling your pubes and/or smashing your head
against the furniture - Sooner or later you'll probably have to download a newer version either way.
The release you have is old and isn't even listed here on site, so either get the RLD release and start
from scratch... Or try to smooth-talk the KaOs guys into making a RERIP with the latest patches.
Alternatively you can check the kickass site for some of those dodgy (rus) repacks - I mean the kids
seem to like those car mechanics and what not - Still, can you really trust a car mechanic?

Anyway, the reason you can't do anything is because of the crack - When you try to run the patch
it probably starts hissing like a rabid wolf spider because it can't recognise the "RelicCOH.exe".
So, I'm gonna post some files that can be useful to you and others that are trying to update CoH.

http://www21.zippyshare.com/v/93772102/file.html (14.46 MB)
password: www.kaoskrew.org

The link has original and cracked files from both RLD release (v2.500.0) and BAT release (v2.501.0).

You (mmn0891) could try and copy the original files from the v2.501.0 folder (only the original).
First make a backup of the 3 files in your installation directory, then copy/paste the originals,
now try your patch again - If successful then patch away until you're satisfied - Then, and only then
apply the crack that is corresponding to your current game version.

Obviously, you (or anyone) need to hunt for those cracks and updates yourself - The cracks in my
link are for the 2.500.0 and 2.501.0 versions and are only included for testing purposes.

I hope you get it sorted out.

I was a bit curious if it was at all possible to update this old thing, so I dusted off my
old RLD version and thought I'll give it a go to see what all the fuss was about.

Here's what I did:

• Installed "Company.Of.Heroes.Tales.Of.Valor-RELOADED" (did not touch the crack).
• Installed a bunch of patches (5 in total) to get to v2.602.0.
• Check "patches-scrolls.com" or "patches-scrolls.de" for those updates (about 364 MB).
• Also, I ignored the latest SCHEME updates all together - I'm not even sure if there are
any cracks available for v2.700 and beyond - The 2.602.0 version is the last update before
Relic moved all of their support for the old CoH game to steamworks.
• Made a backup of my original files in the game dir (in case I need to update again).
• Applied the "reddragon105" crack found on GCW (please read the included .txt carefully).
• And done! - All running like clockwork as far as I can tell.

Basically the "reddragon105" crack for v2.602.0 is a combo of two other cracks and it allows
you to play all of the campaigns (6 in total) without any issues about annoying disk checks.
The crack does however require some magic regarding the CD key, so read that text file.

So, just posting to let you know that it is possible to update but you may have to surrender
to that extra large RLD version after all.

Wow, the good news is I was able to make some progress following your previous advise after copying the relevant files. The patch actually started The bad news is after reaching the file AttribArchive.sga I get an error message
''An error occurred while patching the file "H:\Games\Company of Heroes\\WWAArchives\AttribArchive.sga". The patch may be corrupt, or the file may be different from the version the patch was created for. If you cannot resolve this problem, please contact THQ technical support. (Error code 10104)''.

If you have time to help me out please install the RLD version you have and after you patch the game to version 2.501 and can you please upload the 'AttribArchive.sga' in your game folder as in the path mentioned in the error message its about 18mb and keep the files so I can check if there is another file which does not suite the patch.

I just need to get it up to v2.602 if it doesn't work after trying this I will just get the RLD version.

Thanks for all your help,

Here's the original "AttribArchive.sga" file from the 2.501.0 version.
http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/61370151/file.html

Also, please get the 5 english patches from this site:
http://www.patches-scrolls.com/company_of_heroes.php
Those were the ones I used - I know you only need 4 for your version, but you gonna
need "Patch 2.501" if/when you decide to install the RELOADED version.

By the way, that archive is something like 6 GB huge and it wouldn't at all surprise me
if it starts nagging you about those other files in there as well.
Personally I think you're sh*t out of luck - I was kind of hoping that it would only
bother you about the crack and dll files, but I think when the KaOs tools rebuilds the
file structure during installation it probably will always have some (if not all) files
that gonna fail the cyclic redundancy check(s)... This is because KaOs is using lossy
compression to make their RIPs really small.

I normally wait with the newer RIPS/REPACKS until some time has passed. I just mean
today's climate is all about Early.Access-Beta-Exclusive-DLC releases and no game is
ever truly finished. So generally I don't think that lossy RIPs are a good option for the
new releases anymore - However I do like them for the older patched-up versions.

Get the bloody RLD already - I think it's pretty well seeded (even the RAR version).
Note: The CRC32 checksum for the RELOADED iso (rld-cohe.iso) is: 75ADEA4E...And the
MD5 hash is: E89D1F7F12AB71B47C957C186C792B38. Just so you don't get any fakers.

Hi, Thanks again. Currently at my uncles, so won't get to do it until i get back. On the site with the patches is the patch 2.4 to 2.5 actually Opposing fronts to Tales of Valor cause my uncle has opposing fronts with him. I can't believe after all this time there could have been a simpler solution. :) really sorry for putting you through the trouble if that is so. Just to download a 1.4gb file AAAH.

I have no idea what the other patches do, or require but I would guess that they are for
the pre ToV versions. I myself own the original game with the Opposing Fronts expansion
but I have never bothered with those old, yet pristine discs because I've always known
that I have that RLD version somewhere in my archive. with Tales of Valor on it.

Anywhoot, don't worry about it - I'm always glad I can shed some light on this or that
even if it results into nothing. I mean, it doesn't really matter how, as long as you get it
working - And besides, maybe the next person that stumbles upon this thread with
similar issues can possibly save themselves some time.

Let me know how it went and if you need any more files from that 2.501.0 version.
...No hurry, in your own time.

Hi, Its me again. Today's Good news and bad news, I was able to patch the game from 2.501 to 2.502 :) but once I run the second patch i get another error similar to the previous one, but its a different file that's around 27mb the patches seem to be updating the attributes files, will you be able to upload this file? You would have to update the game to 2.502. Its like there's a hurdle every step that I take :(

This is the error with the path, if it ever gives the same for a big file I will install Opposing fronts and download the 1.4gb patch

An error occurred while patching the file "H:\ Games\ Company of Heroes\\ CoH OPS\Archives\ OPSAttribArchive.sga". The patch may be corrupt, or the file may be different from the version the patch was created for. If you cannot resolve this problem, please contact THQ technical support. (Error code 10104)

The original "OPSAttribArchive.sga" file from the 2.502.0 version.

Let's hope those files don't get bigger... Good luck.

Unfortunately the files are getting bigger as it stopped on the other file from the same folder which is 45mb. It just keeps asking for the data files but no question on the others like models and stuff.

No worries I will install Opposing Fronts and get the other patch, unfortunately for anyone else the KAOS rip won't have a fix :(

Here's that "OPSData.sga" file just in case.
http://www8.zippyshare.com/v/18101985/file.html

45 MB isn't a that big of a deal, but sure, if it starts bothering
you abot those bigger ones then I guess you have no choice.

Edit: It's quite possible that KaOs will address this but you can't stress these things,
especially now during the holiday season... Besides, I don't think it's gonna be some
kind of quick fix for that old version - It's more likely to be a RERIP (if any at all).

Here it goes again same patch asks for the DLC3Data.sga (33mb) in the DLC3 folder what if it asks for all the data files in the DLC folders thats 92mb :o

The only thing I'm worried about is always having to bug you for the files, I mean if i had another way to get the files I wouldn't be bothering you all the time, but if you're OK with it :D. I would really like to fix this and I don't want to ask the KAOS team to upload the whole game again, you know.

Wait, I don't get it - You don't want an updated version? (KaOs RERIP).

Here, try copying this (2.502.0) folder and see if you get some success:

http://www67.zippyshare.com/v/3442967/file.html

Anyway, like I said before, it could pretty much ask for any file that fails the CRC.
I extracted the "EN_2502_2600_Patch.exe" to see what files it was going to update,
and unfortunately it had all those files (below) in the archive. So, if any of them
fails the check you're back to my third post in this thread.

Engine.sga (335 MB)
WW2Art.sga (606 MB)
WW2ArtHigh.sga (236 MB)
WW2ArtLow.sga (182 MB)
WW2AxisSpeechEnglish.sga (485 MB)
WW2Data.sga (0.98 GB)
WW2Sound.sga (597 MB)
WW2SoundHigh.sga (199 MB)
WW2SoundLow.sga (93.7 MB)

I have no problem uploading any file under 200 MB, but doing this over and over will
not save you any time or GB in the long run. But hey! - Keep 'em coming and let's see
what's next. If you ever get your old version patched all the way then make a backup
of the entire game (the whole folder structure) and take a note of that registry info
because I'm only doing this once.

So this is the end i guess, the files you mentioned all came up in the patch as errors

So I moved each file out of the folder as the error came up and the patch continued without errors and patched successfully. But these files wont be patched and the fixes and addons won't be applied. . But i guess if anyone needs to install the eastern fronts Mod they can patch the game in this way up to 2.6.

Sorry to hear about your loss, mmn0891 - Time to move on I guess.

Ok then, so just to be clear - Anyone attempting to update their old KaOs RIP
(
Company.Of.Heroes.Tales.Of.Valor.FullRip-KaOs), no matter whether you have
a registry fix or replaced the cracked files for the originals - It will always fail the
update on that version, so please find an alternative.

Btw. those of you wanting to install the "Eastern Front mod v2.10" should know
that it requires you to have it patched to at least the 2.602 version, then you
have to apply the compatibility fix - If you try this mod and fix on any other
version it will most likely crash. It could possibly start but I don't think it will run
the mod as intended.

@donkeymilk

No problemificado... Ehm, what file? The crackili-crack-crack?

@mmn0891

If you mean single-player then I just did all those points in my 3rd post and then I
ran the game once to check if everything was a-ok. After that I installed the
"EF_Setup2.3.0.0_Full.exe" version plus the "EF_2602_compability.exe".
And finally I started Eastern Front with the "EF_launcher.exe" from the main folder.
Also remember, most games require redist files like VisualC, DirectX, XNAFx, .NetFx.

If you mean multiplayer then I have no idea. I did not try that part because cracks
are almost always made for single-player only - For multiplayer you'll probably gonna
need a scheme version of CoH with a steam emulator to run via Tunngle or something.
I would suggest checking communities like CS.RIN or revolt... Or go legit.

I no longer have this game installed, 'coz I have no interest for this type of game at
the moment, so my help will be even more limited from now on.

Here's some extra info, so just saw this release pop its head out:

Company.of.Heroes.Complete.Edition-PROPHET (7.4 GB)

Game is a Steam version and is updated to v2.700.2.42 - It includes:

• Company of Heroes (main game)
• Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
• Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor
• Soundtrack

Kind of annoying for you, mmn0891, since you just finished downloading the RLD version,
but hey, maybe you'll have better luck getting Eastern Front working on this newer version.
Personally I would wait for KING (or KK) to make a RIP to avoid multiple downloads.

Good to know there is a v2.7 out there with a crack. Hope KING will Rip this one I would surely download it cause he will be able to rip it to less than 4gigs :D . Please let us know KK.

Ain't gonna download it unless KING rips it
